Family Fishing Trip
16.00-19.00 Fishing trip for all the family, with professional fishermen from Smögen. Join experienced fishermen Martin & Tommy Olofsson on a memorable fishing trip in the Smögen archipelago. We spend a few hours fishing for mackerel and trying to spot harbour seals. Fishing rods can be hired on board. The trip departs from the Olofsson Family’s Boathouse under the Smögen Bridge. Book in advance! Price: 500 SEK/adult and 300 SEK/child up to 12.

“Skipper Johan Gonsén steered the boat both during the family trip, an earlier crab safari straight from the pier of the campsite, and the half-day trip I took a day or so later. He was, apart from being an expert on fishing sites, techniques and disentangling lines, also able to communicate just the right amount of information, in a pedagogic and interesting way, about the ocean and its inhabitants, which really gave the experience an extra dimension. He also helped me to my first close contact with a spiny dogfish.”

ShowJoin experienced fishermen Martin & Tommy Olofsson on a memorable fishing trip in the Smögen archipelago. We spend a few hours fishing for mackerel, emptying crab pots and looking for harbour seals. Sometimes the weather conditions or other natural phenomena may cause a change in the program. If this happens, we may stop off at Hållö or one of the other islands.
Fishing rods can be hired on board. The crab pots are already baited and ready on the sea bed, waiting to be emptied. To haul up ‘your own’ pot is heavy work, but both fun and exciting. Mind your fingers when you empty the pot – if a crab grabs your finger you’ll be pleased to have another nine…
The skipper knows nearly all there is to know about fishing and the local marine environment and is happy to share his wisdom. He may tell the odd tall tale too…
The participants can keep their catch if they wish. If there is a lot, you can freeze the fish at Ramsvik. Freshly fried mackerel for lunch and home-cooked crab in the evening – this is what a holiday in Bohuslän is all about. The sea air makes you hungry, so please feel free to bring a flask of coffee and some sandwiches on the trip. A pair of binoculars for studying seals is also a good idea.
