Restaurants, cafés and local food in Bohuslän

Bohuslän is well known for freshly caught fish and fresh seefood. Here are our favorites among restaurants, cafés and local food stores.

Restaurants with local produce

Here we recommend some restaurants near Ramsvik that provide an extra good dining experience.

Skäret, Smögen

Right at the beginning of Smögenbryggan, in the same premises where the shrimp sandwich first saw the light of day in 1931, you will find Skäret. Just like in the 1930s, the focus is on the food and the view of Smögen’s harbor entrance. Everything is baked and cooked here from scratch, using local ingredients as a starting point.

Tant Anton in Kungshamn

On the pier in Kungshamn you will find Tant Anton, a restaurant with a cozy interior and creative flavor combinations. The menu consists of small dishes that are meant to be shared between each other in the group.

Göstas Fiskekrog at Smögen

At Gösta’s Fiskekrog you will find everything the sea has to offer – of course pin-fresh and prepared with the greatest care. Enjoy good food and drink to the spectacle of the boats sliding into the harbor and the people strolling on Smögenbryggan. There are also vegetarian and meat dishes on the menu for those who prefer it.

Musselbaren at Smögen

At Musselbaren & Kleven’s three kitchens, Bohuslän’s blue mussels play the main role. Mussels are served in all forms – and hopefully new dishes that you have never tried before. Enjoy the dark blue gold together with one or more of the pub’s classic side dishes and tasty sauces. The bread is always freshly baked and the aioli is of course homemade.

Bryggcaféet at Bovallstrand

Bryggcafét, located among the harbor’s boats and piers in Bovallstrand, focuses on simple but well-prepared food with fresh fish and shellfish combined with local produce. The view of the harbor entrance has been described by several guests as “The best location on the West Coast!”

Farm and fish shops

Here you can buy local produce from the sea and the farms.

Kustcharken

You can find Kustcharken a few km before the coast, at Askum. The guys who run Kustcharken are from the area and also run the farms where the animals come from. They cut, smoke, make sausages and other charcuterie products for the counters. Kustcharken is a well-stocked shop that also sells goodies from other nearby producers.

Fish stalls at Smögen

In Smögen’s fish stalls, for example Bröderna Samuelsson’s, Ekelöf’s fish and Gösta’s fish, you can buy fish and seafood, shrimp sandwiches, homemade stir-fries, smoked and grilled delicacies.

Fiskaffären at Hunnebostrand

Fiskaffären is located right on the promenade in Hunnebostrand and is a long-standing shop where you buy fresh fish and shellfish over the counter. Crayfish are delivered daily at the jetty from the fishing boat Brea from Brevik. The fish shop has a close collaboration with a number of local suppliers, for example Stensjö potatoes from Stensjö Gård and honey from Anna and Roberts Bisysslor and rapeseed oil from Bärby Gård.

Klevs gård

Klev’s farm is located just before the southern entrance to Bovallstrand. Klev is a large farm with animals, crops, forest and much more. There is a farm shop here with, among other things, eggs, rapeseed oil and honey from the farm.

Smögenbryggarn

Smögenbryggarn is a marine brewery that brews beer with local ingredients, in Smögen. The company works for a cleaner sea and a sustainable coastal community and the beer is sold in several restaurants and taverns in Sotenäs.

Cafés

Hamnbageriet at Kungshamn

Hamnbageriet at the harbor in Kungshamn bakes bread and other goodies with the best ingredients. They invest in locally produced products and in the café you can see when the baking is in progress. Sometimes there are courses at the bakery, and if you are a group you can book an evening of baking.

Skärets café at Smögen

Skärets Café & Bistro is Smögenbryggan’s obvious meeting place. Alongside the famous prawn sandwich, lots of good pastries from Smögens Bageri are also served.
